There is no doubt that the 2012 IEEE-IAS/PCA Cement Industry Technical Conference in San Antonio, Texas will be a conference to remember. I tip my cowboy hat to Corinne Fields and her local committee for their hard work and dedication.
As you may also imagine, planning for the 2013 IEEE-IAS/PCA Cement Industry Technical Conference in Orlando, Florida is well under way. The local committee has been staffed, the venue has been chosen and I am now formally inviting you to join us at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort, April 14 – 18, 2013 for next year’s world-class cement industry conference.
Although we are a long way from the peak levels of demand prior to 2008, all indications are that markets are starting to improve and some local markets are experiencing sold out conditions. When demand fell these past four years, budgets were slashed and sadly, the workforce was reduced. Hundreds of years of experience evaporated in a matter of months. Although these are the difficult challenges faced by our entire industry, these are also the times that present opportunities.
As Walt Disney once said, “In this volatile business of ours, we can ill afford to rest on our laurels, even to pause in retrospect. Times and conditions change so rapidly that we must keep our aim constantly focused on the future.” What was true then, is certainly true now.
Plan now to participate in the world’s premier cement conference, with all of the up-to-date equipment, process and regulatory discussions, and enjoy the foremost educational experience available today.
In lieu of the traditional plant tour on Thursday of the conference, Disney Insitute will be presenting an array of half-day workshops centered around one of our most important resources: human capital.
Now is the time to invigorate our workforce for the tasks that lie ahead, to educate and motivate our employees using a combination of facilitated discussion, experiential activities, case studies and field experiences to generate memorable lessons. All of which keeps Disney at the forefront of innovation, service and business.
I invite you to come join us for the technical presentations, come for the up-to-date environmental workshops and latest economic forecasts, but make sure you stick around for a glimpse into the magic.
See you in Orlando,
Chair – 2013 Orlando Organizing Committee
